The first glance of the world around us reveal the level of poverty which is alarmingly increasing in the whole world. For many, this is a situation which is measured by the lack of wealth to satisfy the needs and wants of the individual. But for those who value mankind and comprehend what pain is, poverty is more than a curse.
The poor needs our help. They are human beings just like we are. The look towards them has changed dramatically in this changing world. The more technology is blessing this world, the more the poor people are being marginalized. I want to eradicate this perception in the mind of people. I won’t be able to do this alone. We need to react collectively to help them.
Just remember when was the last time you saw a poor kid or an adult begging on the road. I bet you have forgotten but if I ask you whether you still remember when was the last time you went to KFC or restaurant, you will surely remember the date. The real problem lies here. No one is really poor. These are words which have been created in our minds. These words are tearing the world apart.
However, poverty is killing people everyday. The statistics are shocking. Every year 15 million of children die of hunger. For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years. 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day. Every day around 24 000 people die directly from hunger or hunger related diseases – an unbelievable amount.
These statistics can shock you but they are indeed true. We never realize when we are wasting food and water. This same food and water are yearned by people in some part of the world.
Just imagine a little kid who is suffering from poverty. His tears are so valuable and filled with grief. If we don’t react to help them, no one will.
Following this blog, my club has been created to communicate the voice of the poor and to help them as much as we can. I thank all those who are helping me in this great initiative and request others to help the poor in their ways as well. Caring for them and showing that they are equal to us are the best gifts we can offer them.
