12 March 1968. This date has marked history. In the comfort of my home, at 6:20 of the morning with my hot tea next to my laptop and focusing my mind on preparing this post, I shall be thankful to this only date 12 MARCH 1968 for gifting me my today. If you are reading this post, then you are certainly thankful to this date also, which has set both Mauritius and Mauritians free from the British rule.
The history of Mauritius is still clear in our mind. The very first sweat of the laborers, the very first frown regarding the British tyranny, the very first chain of slavery, the very first drop of tears falling on our Motherland, the very first sacrifice for that morsel of bread and the very first drop of blood falling on our island due to the slaves being whipped are the moments in history which can never be ignored. The moments are past but the pain residing in those moments can still be felt.
When the slaves were being whipped, the whip was not speaking the language of religion and was not choosing people of different religious background to express its tyranny. Be it Hindu, Christians or Muslims, all were enduring the pain of slavery equally and together. There is a beautiful message hidden in this moment. It explains how the pain was endured together irrespective of religious and cultural background. In the same way, standing by each other in all situations of life must be our prime effort. Our first religion must be that of Humanity!
As Mauritians, let’s give our Motherland a beautiful gift today. Let’s give Mauritius a promise of peace as from today. If you really recall what Motherland has gifted us yet, our promise will still be compared to a drop of ocean but its effect will be deeper than the ocean itself. A promise of peace to our Motherland is the best gift we can give Mauritius today. If you revere our Motherland as our Mother, then this promise will be colorful as our national flag.
Ending here but beginning with a promise to see a new Mauritius as from now. Share the promise and live the promise.

Chris.
We can always CREATE A NEW PLACE to live! The power to create is with us human. It’s not a one-man-show but a collective efforts which everyone must make.
I cannot completely clean a place, but I can surely try – this is the spirit that everyone must adopt instead of discouraging others and wondering about the impossibilities.
Cheers
